This article is being written on the 2ndMarch, 2020, after the first 2 cases of COVID-19 have been publicly announced. It was a matter of time until the firsts cases were brought to public.

This article is written in English to try to reach a broader audience.

The astrologer used one of the most common techniques of traditional astrology: Horary Astrology. A question was asked to the skies on the 25th February 2020, at 10:23 p.m., when the virus was spreading all over Europe, mostly in Italy but no confirmed cases were known in Portugal.

The map is the most radical possible. Look at the Moon (people) right on the cusp of house 6 (diseases). People are getting sick. Who is in charge of this new disease? Mars, of course (rules house 6) and holds power to the Moon and Venus (here represents the Portuguese people in general since it rules the ascendant and I’m Portuguese).

Both the Moon and Venus are in house 6, the virus is spreading, people are getting sick… Quietly and probably undercover since Mercury (news) is retrograde and combust (very close to the Sun). In this case no news doesn’t mean good news.

Another testimony of the disease in Portugal is Saturn (great malefic) right on the cusp of the IC (my country), and Jupiter (the one which expands all) is approaching Saturn. Mars is also in the neighborhood…

So, how long until the first case is exposed?

If we take the Moon, the next aspect will be a square with Mars (disease) in around 5 units of time (5 days in this case, which is applicable). If we take Venus also 5 days until it gets visible (crosses the cusp of house 7).

Since the question was posed on the evening of 25th February that take us to Sunday evening, 1st March. The first cases were publicly exposed on the morning of Monday 2nd march. My guess is that our authorities waited for Monday to make the announcement.

And the prognosis? Is it favorable?

In my opinion yes, the ascendant of the map is very close to Spica[1], one of the most benevolent star. The ruler of death (house 8), which is also Venus, will be in domicile after 6th March, bringing good fortune.

Therefore, I would not expect great mortality in Portugal, as the statistics prove to be true all-around the world.

Stay safe and wash your hands frequently. 2020 won´t be an easy year, but we will survive to tell (one more) creepy story to our children and grandchildren.

[1] The astrological influences of the star Spica: According to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Venus and Mars; and, to Alvidas, of Venus, Jupiter and Mercury. It gives success, renown, riches, a sweet disposition, love of art and science, unscrupulousness, unfruitfulness and injustice to innocence. [Robson*, p.211.]If rising or culminating: Unbounded good fortune, happiness, ecclesiastical preferment, unexpected honor or advancement beyond native's hopes or capacity. [Robson*, p.211.]
